And Bethuel fathered Rebekah. Milcah bore these eight to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

And Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah and took Rebekah to be his wife. Isaac loved her, and he was comforted after his mother's [death].

Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban, and Laban ran out to the man at the spring.

So Isaac sent Jacob to Paddan-aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

Esau noticed that Isaac blessed Jacob and sent him to Paddan-aram to get a wife there. When he blessed him, Isaac commanded Jacob not to marry a Canaanite woman.

He took all the livestock and possessions he had acquired in Paddan-aram, and he drove his herds to go to the land of his father Isaac in Canaan.

And Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean, not telling him that he was fleeing.

But God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night. "Watch yourself!" God warned him. "Don't say anything to Jacob, either good or bad."

God appeared to Jacob again after he returned from Paddan-aram, and He blessed him.

You are to respond by saying in the presence of the LORD your God: My father was a wandering Aramean. He went down to Egypt with a few people and lived there. There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.

And in the prophet Elisha's time, there were many in Israel who had serious skin diseases, yet not one of them was healed-- only Naaman the Syrian."
