[For the choir director, for Jeduthun. A Davidic psalm.] I said, "I will guard my ways so that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle as long as the wicked are in my presence."

[For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. A Davidic psalm.] I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.

With them were Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD-- for His faithful love endures forever.

Heman and Jeduthun had with them trumpets and cymbals to play and musical instruments of God. Jeduthun's sons were at the gate.

From Jeduthun: Jeduthun's sons: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah-- six-- under the authority of their father Jeduthun, prophesying to the accompaniment of lyres, giving thanks and praise to the LORD.

All these men were under their own fathers' authority for the music in the LORD's temple, with cymbals, harps, and lyres for the service of God's temple. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the king's authority.

[A psalm of Asaph.] God, the LORD God speaks; He summons the earth from east to west.

I cry aloud to the LORD, and He answers me from His holy mountain. Selah

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard [him] and saved him from all his troubles.

But I call to God, and the LORD will save me.

I complain and groan morning, noon, and night, and He hears my voice.

[A Davidic Maskil. When he was in the cave. A prayer.] I cry aloud to the LORD; I plead aloud to the LORD for mercy.

Although my spirit is weak within me, You know my way. Along this path I travel they have hidden a trap for me.

I love the LORD because He has heard my appeal for mercy.

Because He has turned His ear to me, I will call [out to Him] as long as I live.
