Therefore the LORD's anger burns against His people. He raised His hand against them and struck them; the mountains quaked, and their corpses were like garbage in the streets. In all this, His anger is not removed, and His hand is still raised [to strike].

This is the plan prepared for the whole earth, and this is the hand stretched out against all the nations.

I spread out My hands all day long to a rebellious people who walk in the wrong path, following their own thoughts.

He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; He triumphed over them by Him.

like heat in a dry land, You subdue the uproar of barbarians. As the shade of a cloud [cools] the heat of the day, [so] He stills the song of the violent.

Human pride will be humbled, and the loftiness of men will be brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted on that day.

Look, the Lord God of Hosts will chop off the branches with terrifying power, and the tall [trees] will be cut down, the high [trees] felled.

I will bring disaster on the world, and their [own] iniquity, on the wicked. I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant and humiliate the insolence of tyrants.

We have heard of Moab's pride-- how very proud he is-- his haughtiness, his pride, his arrogance, and his empty boasting.

Therefore I will give Him the many as a portion, and He will receive the mighty as spoil, because He submitted Himself to death, and was counted among the rebels; yet He bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels.

Then He speaks to them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath:

Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession.

So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth.

Pay homage to the Son, or He will be angry, and you will perish in your rebellion, for His anger may ignite at any moment. All those who take refuge in Him are happy.

[A Davidic psalm.] The LORD declared to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool."

Your people will volunteer on Your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of Your youth belongs to You.

The Lord is at Your right hand; He will crush kings on the day of His anger.

He will drink from the brook by the road; therefore, He will lift up His head.

We have heard of Moab's pride, great pride, indeed-- his insolence, arrogance, pride, and haughty heart.

Moab will be destroyed as a people because he has exalted himself against the LORD.

Look, I am against you, you arrogant one-- [this is] the declaration of the Lord God of Hosts-- because your day has come, the time when I will punish you.

The arrogant will stumble and fall with no one to pick him up. I will set fire to his cities, and it will consume everything around him."

I will punish Bel in Babylon. I will make him vomit what he swallowed. The nations will no longer stream to him; even Babylon's wall will fall.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and glorify the King of heaven, because all His works are true and His ways are just. And He is able to humble those who walk in pride.

But He gives greater grace. Therefore He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Pay her back the way she also paid, and double it according to her works. In the cup in which she mixed, mix a double portion for her.

therefore her plagues will come in one day-- death, and grief, and famine. She will be burned up with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is mighty.

so that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of commanders, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of their riders, and the flesh of everyone, both free and slave, small and great."

But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with him the false prophet, who had performed signs on his authority, by which he deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.
