ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_23 57:12
I will expose your righteousness, and your works-- they will not profit you.
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_23 57:13
When you cry out, let your collection [of idols] deliver you! The wind will carry all of them off, a breath will take them away. But whoever takes refuge in Me will inherit the land and possess My holy mountain.
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_23 59:5
They hatch viper's eggs and weave spider's webs. Whoever eats their eggs will die; crack one open, and a viper is hatched.
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_23 59:6
Their webs cannot become clothing, and they cannot cover themselves with their works. Their works are sinful works, and violent acts are in their hands.
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_23 64:6
All of us have become like something unclean, and all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment; all of us wither like a leaf, and our iniquities carry us away like the wind.
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_23 66:3-6
3
One slaughters an ox, one kills a man; one sacrifices a lamb, one breaks a dog's neck; one offers a grain offering, one offers swine's blood; one offers incense, one praises an idol-- all these have chosen their ways and delight in their abominations.
4
So I will choose their punishment, and I will bring on them what they dread, because I called and no one answered; I spoke and they didn't hear; they did what is evil in My sight and chose what I didn't delight in.
5
You who tremble at His word, hear the word of the LORD: "Your brothers who hate and exclude you because of Me have said: Let the LORD be glorified, so that we can see your joy! But they will be put to shame."
6
A sound of uproar from the city! A voice from the temple-- the voice of the LORD, paying back His enemies what they deserve!
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_24 7:8-10
8
[But] look, you keep trusting in deceitful words that cannot help.
9
"Do you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known?
10
Then do you come and stand before Me in this house called by My name and insist: We are safe? As a result, you are free to continue doing all these detestable acts!
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_45 9:30-32
30
What should we say then? Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained righteousness-- namely the righteousness that comes from faith.
31
But Israel, pursuing the law for righteousness, has not achieved the law.
32
Why is that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.
ZEFANIABIBLE_BIBLE_BOOK_NAME_46 1:18-31
18
For to those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is God's power.
19
For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the experts.
20
Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made the world's wisdom foolish?
21
For since, in God's wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached.
22
For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom,
23
but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.
24
Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is God's power and God's wisdom,
25
because God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.
26
Brothers, consider your calling: not many are wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.
27
Instead, God has chosen the world's foolish things to shame the wise, and God has chosen the world's weak things to shame the strong.
28
God has chosen the world's insignificant and despised things-- the things viewed as nothing-- so He might bring to nothing the things that are viewed as something,
29
so that no one can boast in His presence.
30
But from Him you are in Christ Jesus, who for us became wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,
31
in order that, as it is written: The one who boasts must boast in the Lord.
