Then Moses asked God, "If I go to the Israelites and say to them: The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they ask me, 'What is His name?' what should I tell them?"

God also said to Moses, "Say this to the Israelites: Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever; this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.

"This will take place," He continued, "so they will believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you."

May they know that You alone-- whose name is Yahweh-- are the Most High over all the earth.

Jesus said to them, "I assure you: Before Abraham was, I am."

I will act for My own sake, indeed, My own, for how can I be defiled? I will not give My glory to another.

Do not have other gods besides Me.

You must not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the fathers' sin, to the third and fourth [generations] of those who hate Me,

You are to never bow down to another god because the LORD, being jealous by nature, is a jealous God.

so that all people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
