"Listen to Me, house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been sustained from the womb, carried along since birth.

Listen and hear my voice. Pay attention and hear what I say.

"Come, gather together, and draw near, you fugitives of the nations. Those who carry their wooden idols, and pray to a god who cannot save, have no knowledge.

[For the choir director. A psalm of the sons of Korah.] Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who inhabit the world,

"How long, foolish ones, will you love ignorance? [How long] will [you] mockers enjoy mocking and [you] fools hate knowledge?

If you turn to my discipline, then I will pour out my spirit on you and teach you my words.

Doesn't Wisdom call out? Doesn't Understanding make her voice heard?

Beside the gates at the entry to the city, at the main entrance, she cries out:

Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced; develop common sense, you who are foolish.

for what makes everything clear is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and the Messiah will shine on you.

Because you say, 'I'm rich; I have become wealthy, and need nothing,' and you don't know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked,

I advise you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, and white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see.

Because I know that you are stubborn, and your neck is iron and your forehead bronze,

The brave-hearted have been plundered; they have slipped into their [final] sleep. None of the warriors was able to lift a hand.

But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder; they closed their ears so they could not hear.

They made their hearts like a rock so as not to obey the law or the words that the LORD of Hosts had sent by His Spirit through the earlier prophets. Therefore great anger came from the LORD of Hosts.

"Your words against Me are harsh," says the LORD. Yet you ask: "What have we spoken against You?"

So now we consider the arrogant to be fortunate. Not only do those who commit wickedness prosper, they even test God and escape."

"You stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit; as your forefathers did, so do you.

Those who pursue evil plans come near; they are far from Your instruction.

Salvation is far from the wicked because they do not seek Your statutes.

Here is what the LORD says: What fault did your fathers find in Me that they went so far from Me, followed worthless idols, and became worthless themselves?

But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.
