Then Israel made a vow to the LORD, "If You will deliver this people into our hands, we will completely destroy their cities."

Then Jacob made a vow: "If God will be with me and watch over me on this journey, if He provides me with food to eat and clothing to wear,

This stone that I have set up as a marker will be God's house, and I will give to You a tenth of all that You give me."

"Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When someone makes a special vow to the LORD that involves the valuation of people,

If the person is a female, your valuation is 30 shekels.

If the person is from one month to five years old, your valuation for a male is five silver shekels, and for a female your valuation is three shekels of silver.

But if one is too poor to pay the valuation, he must present the person before the priest and the priest will set a value for him. The priest will set a value for him according to what the one making the vow can afford.

He may not replace it or make a substitution for it, either good for bad, or bad for good. But if he does substitute one animal for another, both that animal and its substitute will be holy.

The priest will set its value, whether high or low; the price will be set as the priest makes the valuation for you.

"When a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, the priest will assess its value, whether high or low. The price will stand just as the priest assesses it.

"If a man consecrates to the LORD any part of a field that he possesses, your valuation will be proportional to the seed needed to sow it, at the rate of 50 silver shekels for [every] five bushels of barley seed.

But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, the priest will calculate the price for him in proportion to the years left until the [next] Year of Jubilee, so that your valuation will be reduced.

But if he does not redeem the field or if he has sold it to another man, it is no longer redeemable.

"If a person consecrates to the LORD a field he has purchased that is not part of his inherited landholding,

In the Year of Jubilee the field will return to the one he bought it from, the original owner.

"But no one can consecrate a firstborn of the livestock, whether an animal from the herd or flock, to the LORD, because a firstborn [already] belongs to the LORD.

"Nothing that a man permanently sets apart to the LORD from all he owns, whether a person, an animal, or his inherited landholding, can be sold or redeemed; everything set apart is especially holy to the LORD.

"Every tenth of the land's produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.

Every tenth animal from the herd or flock, which passes under the [shepherd's] rod, will be holy to the LORD.

These are the commands the LORD gave Moses for the Israelites on Mount Sinai.

"If you make a vow to the LORD your God, do not be slow to keep it, because He will require it of you, and it will be counted against you as sin.

But if you refrain from making a vow, it will not be counted against you as sin.

So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead. The people put him over themselves as leader and commander, and Jephthah repeated all his terms in the presence of the LORD at Mizpah.

Jephthah made this vow to the LORD: "If You will hand over the Ammonites to me,

whatever comes out of the doors of my house to greet me when I return in peace from the Ammonites will belong to the LORD, and I will offer it as a burnt offering."

When he saw her, he tore his clothes and said, "No! [Not] my daughter! You have devastated me! You have brought great misery on me. I have given my word to the LORD and cannot take [it] back.

Then she said to him, "My father, you have given your word to the LORD. Do to me as you have said, for the LORD brought vengeance on your enemies, the Ammonites."

At the end of two months, she returned to her father, and he kept the vow he had made about her. And she had never been intimate with a man. Now it became a custom in Israel

who does not slander with his tongue, who does not harm his friend or discredit his neighbor,

I am obligated by vows to You, God; I will make my thank offerings to You.

Make and keep your vows to the LORD your God; let all who are around Him bring tribute to the awe-inspiring One.

I have solemnly sworn to keep Your righteous judgments.

It is a trap for anyone to dedicate something rashly and later to reconsider his vows.

Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God, becauswhite, and tasted like wafers [mo misuses His name.

Or [if] someone swears rashly to do what is good or evil-- concerning anything a person may speak rashly in an oath-- without being aware of it, but [later] recognizes it, he incurs guilt in such an instance.

"Again, you have heard that it was said to our ancestors, You must not break your oath, but you must keep your oaths to the Lord.

But I tell you, don't take an oath at all: either by heaven, because it is God's throne;

So he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask.

Although the king regretted it, he commanded that it be granted because of his oaths and his guests.

When it was day, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves under a curse: neither to eat nor to drink until they had killed Paul.

I call on God as a witness against me: it was to spare you that I did not come to Corinth.

As it is written: He has scattered; He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.

as you are enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.

"When a woman in her father's house during her youth makes a vow to the LORD or puts [herself] under an obligation,

and her father hears about her vow or the obligation she put herself under, and he says nothing to her, all her vows and every obligation she put herself under are binding.

"If a woman in her husband's house has made a vow or put herself under an obligation with an oath,

"Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever takes an oath by the sanctuary, it means nothing. But whoever takes an oath by the gold of the sanctuary is bound by his oath.'

Also, 'Whoever takes an oath by the altar, it means nothing. But whoever takes an oath by the gift that is on it is bound by his oath.'

When it was day, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves under a curse: neither to eat nor to drink until they had killed Paul.

These men went to the chief priests and elders and said, "We have bound ourselves under a solemn curse that we won't eat anything until we have killed Paul.

Don't let them persuade you, because there are more than 40 of them arranging to ambush him, men who have bound themselves under a curse not to eat or drink until they kill him. Now they are ready, waiting for a commitment from you."

He acts violently against those at peace with him; he violates his covenant.

You will pray to Him, and He will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows.

I will give praise in the great congregation because of You; I will fulfill my vows before those who fear You.

Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and pay your vows to the Most High.

I will enter Your house with burnt offerings; I will pay You my vows

that my lips promised and my mouth spoke during my distress.

I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people.

I will fulfill my vows to the LORD, in the very presence of all His people,

When you make a vow to God, don't delay fulfilling it, because He does not delight in fools. Fulfill what you vow.

Better that you do not vow than that you vow and not fulfill it.

Look to the mountains-- the feet of one bringing good news and proclaiming peace! Celebrate your festivals, Judah; fulfill your vows. For the wicked one will never again march through you; he will be entirely wiped out.
