Mount Sinai was completely enveloped in smoke because the LORD came down on it in fire. Its smoke went up like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently.

Mountains, that you skipped like rams? Hills, like lambs?

Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

The mountains see You and shudder; a downpour of water sweeps by. The deep roars with its voice and lifts its waves high.

Now this expression, "Yet once more," indicates the removal of what can be shaken-- that is, created things-- so that what is not shaken might remain.

People will go into caves in the rocks and holes in the ground, away from the terror of the LORD and from His majestic splendor, when He rises to terrify the earth.

Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will shake from its foundations at the wrath of the LORD of Hosts, on the day of His burning anger.

The LORD will roar from Zion and raise His voice from Jerusalem; heaven and earth will shake. But the LORD will be a refuge for His people, a stronghold for the Israelites.

For the LORD of Hosts says this: "Once more, in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.

I will shake all the nations so that the treasures of all the nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory," says the LORD of Hosts.

I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overturn chariots and their riders. Horses and their riders will fall, each by his brother's sword.
