Deeply hurt, Hannah prayed to the LORD and wept with many tears.
Making a vow, she pleaded, "LORD of Hosts, if You will take notice of Your servant's affliction, remember and not forget me, and give Your servant a son, I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and his hair will never be cut."
While she was praying in the LORD's presence, Eli watched her lips.
Hannah was speaking to herself, and although her lips were moving, her voice could not be heard. Eli thought she was drunk
and scolded her, "How long are you going to be drunk? Get rid of your wine!"
"No, my lord," Hannah replied. "I am a woman with a broken heart. I haven't had any wine or beer; I've been pouring out my heart before the LORD.
Don't think of me as a wicked woman; I've been praying from the depth of my anguish and resentment."
Eli responded, "Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant the petition you've requested from Him."
"May your servant find favor with you," she replied. Then Hannah went on her way; she ate and no longer appeared downcast.
David was in a difficult position because the troops talked about stoning him, for they were all very bitter over [the loss of] their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God.
I am certain that I will see the LORD's goodness in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD; be courageous and let your heart be strong. Wait for the LORD.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act,
Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will support you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
When I am afraid, I will trust in You.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
"This is why I tell you: Don't worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Therefore don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Whenever they bring you before synagogues and rulers and authorities, don't worry about how you should defend yourselves or what you should say.
For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what must be said."
Then He said to His disciples: "Therefore I tell you, don't worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear.
Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you.
Therefore, we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry for help.
Look to the right and see: no one stands up for me; there is no refuge for me; no one cares about me.
I cry to You, LORD; I say, "You are my shelter, my portion in the land of the living."
Look at the birds of the sky: they don't sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you worth more than they?
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.
But He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him up and said to Him, "Teacher! Don't you care that we're going to die?"
For the Gentile world eagerly seeks all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
"But seek His kingdom, and these things will be provided for you.
Don't be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights to give you the kingdom.
[This happens] because he is a hired man and doesn't care about the sheep.
