So the men Moses sent to scout out the land, and who returned and incited the entire community to complain about him by spreading a bad report about the land--
Therefore, it is you and all your followers who have conspired against the LORD! As for Aaron, who is he that you should complain about him?"
You grumbled in your tents and said, 'The LORD brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites so they would destroy us, because He hated us.
They grumbled in their tents and did not listen to the LORD's voice.
Those who are confused will gain understanding and those who grumble will accept instruction.
But the Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to His disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them!"
All who saw it began to complain, "He's gone to lodge with a sinful man!"
Therefore the Jews started complaining about Him, because He said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven."
Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were complaining about this, asked them, "Does this offend you?
Nor should we complain as some of them did, and were killed by the destroyer.
Do everything without grumbling and arguing,
they told you, "In the end time there will be scoffers walking according to their own ungodly desires."
I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
not with lustful desires, like the Gentiles who don't know God.
For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will accumulate teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new.
But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desires.
Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance
Dear friends, I urge you as aliens and temporary residents to abstain from fleshly desires that war against you.
in order to live the remaining time in the flesh, no longer for human desires, but for God's will.
especially those who follow the polluting desires of the flesh and despise authority. Bold, arrogant people! They do not tremble when they blaspheme the glorious ones;
First, be aware of this: scoffers will come in the last days to scoff, following their own lusts,
to execute judgment on all, and to convict them of all their ungodly deeds that they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things ungodly sinners have said against Him.
You have closed their minds to understanding, therefore You will not honor [them].
If a man informs on his friends for a price, the eyes of his children will fail.
They have become hardened; their mouths speak arrogantly.
They set their mouths against heaven, and their tongues strut across the earth.
Therefore His people turn to them and drink in their overflowing waters.
They say, "How can God know? Does the Most High know everything?"
For uttering bombastic, empty words, they seduce, by fleshly desires and debauchery, people who have barely escaped from those who live in error.
"You must not act unjustly when rendering judgment. Do not be partial to the poor or give preference to the rich; judge your neighbor fairly.
I will be partial to no one, and I will not give anyone an [undeserved] title.
God is not partial to princes and does not favor the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of His hands.
who despises the one rejected by the LORD, but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his word whatever the cost,
It is not good to show partiality-- yet a man may sin for a piece of bread.
and constant disagreement among men whose minds are depraved and deprived of the truth, who imagine that godliness is a way to material gain.
My brothers, hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ without showing favoritism.
For suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring, dressed in fine clothes, and a poor man dressed in dirty clothes also comes in.
If you look with favor on the man wearing the fine clothes so that you say, "Sit here in a good place," and yet you say to the poor man, "Stand over there," or, "Sit here on the floor by my footstool,"
haven't you discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
Listen, my dear brothers: Didn't God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that He has promised to those who love Him?
Yet you dishonored that poor man. Don't the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?
Don't they blaspheme the noble name that you bear?
If you really carry out the royal law prescribed in Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing well.
But if you show favoritism, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves.
Many will follow their unrestrained ways, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed.
In their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words. Their condemnation, [pronounced] long ago, is not idle, and their destruction does not sleep.
