When you look to the heavens and see the sun, moon, and stars-- all the array of heaven-- do not be led astray to bow down and worship them. The LORD your God has provided them for all people everywhere under heaven.
On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, over the valley of Aijalon."
And the sun stood still and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on its enemies. Isn't this written in the Book of Jashar? So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed its setting almost a full day.
There has been no day like it before or since, when the LORD listened to the voice of a man, because the LORD fought for Israel.
if I have gazed at the sun when it was shining or at the moon moving in splendor,
while the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
When I observe Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You set in place,
It rises from one end of the heavens and circles to their other end; nothing is hidden from its heat.
The day is Yours, also the night; You established the moon and the sun.
He made the great lights: His love is eternal.
the sun to rule by day, His love is eternal.
the moon and stars to rule by night. His love is eternal.
Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you shining stars.
Let them praise the name of the LORD, for He commanded, and they were created.
Indeed, the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will not shine.
The moon will be put to shame and the sun disgraced, because the LORD of Hosts will reign as king on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, and He will [display His] glory in the presence of His elders.
I form light and create darkness, I make success and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.
Sun and moon stand still in [their] lofty residence, at the flash of Your flying arrows, at the brightness of Your shining spear.
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days: The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the celestial powers will be shaken.
From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over the whole land.
There is a splendor of the sun, another of the moon, and another of the stars; for star differs from star in splendor.
The fourth poured out his bowl on the sun. He was given the power to burn people with fire,
and people were burned by the intense heat. So they blasphemed the name of God who had the power over these plagues, and they did not repent and give Him glory.
The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because God's glory illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
