He stretches the northern [skies] over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.
For this is what the LORD says-- God is the Creator of the heavens. He formed the earth and made it; He established it; He did not create it to be empty, [but] formed it to be inhabited-- "I am the LORD, and there is no other.
I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty. [I looked] to the heavens, and their light was gone.
Desolation, decimation, devastation! Hearts melt, knees tremble, loins shake, every face grows pale!
These are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the word we hear of Him! Who can understand His mighty thunder?
The heavens were made by the word of the LORD, and all the stars, by the breath of His mouth.
When You send Your breath, they are created, and You renew the face of the earth.
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand or marked off the heavens with the span [of his hand]? Who has gathered the dust of the earth in a measure or weighed the mountains in a balance and the hills in scales?
Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or who gave Him His counsel?
Who did He consult with? Who gave Him understanding and taught Him the paths of justice? Who taught Him knowledge and showed Him the way of understanding?
