And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
He stretches the northern [skies] over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.
He laid out the horizon on the surface of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.
Who enclosed the sea behind doors when it burst from the womb,
when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its blanket,
when I determined its boundaries and put [its] bars and doors in place,
when I declared: "You may come this far, but no farther; your proud waves stop here"?
[A Davidic psalm.] The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the LORD;
for He laid its foundation on the seas and established it on the rivers.
He gathers the waters of the sea into a heap; He puts the depths into storehouses.
The sea is His; He made it. His hands formed the dry land.
laying the beams of His palace on the waters [above], making the clouds His chariot, walking on the wings of the wind,
He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be shaken.
You covered it with the deep as if it were a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
At Your rebuke the waters fled; at the sound of Your thunder they hurried away--
mountains rose and valleys sank-- to the place You established for them.
You set a boundary they cannot cross; they will never cover the earth again.
He made the heavens skillfully. His love is eternal.
He spread the land on the waters. His love is eternal.
when He placed the skies above, when the fountains of the ocean gushed forth,
when He set a limit for the sea so that the waters would not violate His command, when He laid out the foundations of the earth.
All the streams flow to the sea, yet the sea is never full. The streams are flowing to the place, and they flow there again.
Do you not fear Me? [This is] the LORD's declaration. Do you not tremble before Me, the One who set the sand as the boundary of the sea, an enduring barrier that it cannot cross? The waves surge, but they cannot prevail. They roar but cannot pass over it.
He answered them, "I am a Hebrew. I worship Yahweh, the God of the heavens, who made the sea and the dry land."
They willfully ignore this: long ago the heavens and the earth existed out of water and through water by the word of God.
He swore an oath by the One who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it: "There will no longer be an interval of time,
