So Isaac sent Jacob to Paddan-aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

You are to respond by saying in the presence of the LORD your God: My father was a wandering Aramean. He went down to Egypt with a few people and lived there. There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.

Jacob fled to the land of Aram. Israel worked to earn a wife; he tended flocks for a wife.

"When the flocks were breeding, I saw in a dream that the streaked, spotted, and speckled males were mating with the females.

I could do you great harm, but last night the God of your father said to me: 'Watch yourself. Don't say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.'

Laban and Bethuel answered, "This is from the LORD; we have no choice in the matter.

If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go against the LORD's command, to do [anything] good or bad of my own will? I will say whatever the LORD says.

Absalom didn't say anything to Amnon, either good or bad, because he hated Amnon since he disgraced his sister Tamar.

He allowed no one to oppress them; He rebuked kings on their behalf:

"Do not touch My anointed ones, or harm My prophets."

Because your raging against Me and your arrogance has reached My ears, I will put My hook in your nose and My bit in your mouth; I will make you go back the way you came.
