And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
Then He said, "Throw it on the ground." He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake. Moses ran from it,
but the LORD told him, "Stretch out your hand and grab it by the tail." So he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand.
"This will take place," He continued, "so they will believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you."
So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD had commanded. Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.
"If a prophet or someone who has dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you,
and that sign or wonder he has promised you comes about, but he says, 'Let us follow other gods,' which you have not known, 'and let us worship them,'
do not listen to that prophet's words or to that dreamer. For the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and all your soul.
This will be the sign that will come to you concerning your two sons Hophni and Phinehas: both of them will die on the same day.
Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, "What is the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the LORD's temple on the third day?"
"Ask for a sign from the LORD your God-- from the depths of Sheol to the heights of heaven."
But Ahaz replied, "I will not ask. I will not test the LORD."
Isaiah said, "Listen, house of David! Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men? Will you also try the patience of my God?
Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.
And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; I will defend this city.
This is the sign to you from the LORD that the LORD will do what He has promised:
I am going to make the sun's shadow that goes down on Ahaz's stairway return by 10 steps." So the sun's shadow went back the 10 steps it had descended.
This will be a sign to you'-- [this is] the LORD's declaration-- 'that I am about to punish you in this place, so you may know that My words of disaster concerning you will certainly come to pass.
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You."
But He answered them, "An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
So the Jews replied to Him, "What sign [of authority] will You show us for doing these things?"
For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom,
