The ropes of death were wrapped around me; the torrents of destruction terrified me.
The floods have lifted up, LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves.
Greater than the roar of many waters-- the mighty breakers of the sea-- the LORD on high is majestic.
when I declared: "You may come this far, but no farther; your proud waves stop here"?
So now, residents of Jerusalem and men of Judah, please judge between Me and My vineyard.
Ah! The roar of many peoples-- they roar like the roaring of the seas. The raging of the nations-- they rage like the raging of mighty waters.
The nations rage like the raging of many waters. He rebukes them, and they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills and like dead thistles before a gale.
Do you not fear Me? [This is] the LORD's declaration. Do you not tremble before Me, the One who set the sand as the boundary of the sea, an enduring barrier that it cannot cross? The waves surge, but they cannot prevail. They roar but cannot pass over it.
The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn't collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.
He also said to me, "The waters you saw, where the prostitute was seated, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.
The mountains skipped like rams, the hills, like lambs.
Why was it, sea, that you fled? Jordan, that you turned back?
Mountains, that you skipped like rams? Hills, like lambs?
Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
LORD, when You came from Seir, when You marched from the fields of Edom, the earth trembled, the heavens poured [rain], the clouds poured water.
The mountains melted before the LORD, even Sinai before the LORD, the God of Israel.
Then He said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the LORD's presence." At that moment, the LORD passed by. A great and mighty wind was tearing at the mountains and was shattering cliffs before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
He removes mountains without their knowledge, overturning them in His anger.
He shakes the earth from its place so that its pillars tremble.
I looked at the mountains, and they were quaking; all the hills shook.
The mountains will melt beneath Him, and the valleys will split apart, like wax near a fire, like water cascading down a mountainside.
The mountains quake before Him, and the hills melt; the earth tremblesat His presence-- the world and all who live in it.
Every island fled, and the mountains disappeared.
