A fool does not delight in understanding, but only wants to show off his opinions.

Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, there will be no dawn for them.

The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and snared. They have rejected the word of the LORD, so what wisdom do they really have?

"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness-- how deep is that darkness!

At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to infants.

All things have been entrusted to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal Him.

For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened.

and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles.

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

The males in the same way also left natural sexual intercourse with females and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Males committed shameless acts with males and received in their own persons the appropriate penalty for their perversion.

But Israel, pursuing the law for righteousness, has not achieved the law.

Why is that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.

No one should deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age, he must become foolish so that he can become wise.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, since it is written: He catches the wise in their craftiness--

If anyone thinks he knows anything, he does not yet know it as he ought to know it.

First, be aware of this: scoffers will come in the last days to scoff, following their own lusts,

They willfully ignore this: long ago the heavens and the earth existed out of water and through water by the word of God.

All of them are clear to the perceptive, and right to those who discover knowledge.

Wisdom is the focus of the perceptive, but a fool's eyes roam to the ends of the earth.

Open my eyes so that I may see wonderful things in Your law.

Your command makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is always with me.

I understand more than the elders because I obey Your precepts.

He answered them, "Because the secrets of the kingdom of heaven have been given for you to know, but it has not been given to them.

For whoever has, [more] will be given to him, and he will have more than enough. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.
