Listen, my son, to your father's instruction, and don't reject your mother's teaching,
My son, keep your father's command, and don't reject your mother's teaching.
Always bind them to your heart; tie them around your neck.
When you walk here and there, they will guide you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; when you wake up, they will talk to you.
For a commandment is a lamp, teaching is a light, and corrective instructions are the way to life.
Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
As you know, like a father with his own children,
we encouraged, comforted, and implored each one of you to walk worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
listening closely to wisdom and directing your heart to understanding;
furthermore, if you call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,
if you seek it like silver and search for it like hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.
My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen closely to my understanding
Say to wisdom, "You are my sister," and call understanding [your] relative.
And now, [my] sons, listen to me; those who keep my ways are happy.
Listen to instruction and be wise; don't ignore it.
Anyone who listens to me is happy, watching at my doors every day, waiting by the posts of my doorway.
For the one who finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD,
but the one who sins against me harms himself; all who hate me love death."
Listen to counsel and receive instruction so that you may be wise in later life.
Listen closely, pay attention to the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge.
We must therefore pay even more attention to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.
