If the LORD of Hosts had not left us a few survivors, we would be like Sodom, we would resemble Gomorrah.
On that day the branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of Israel's survivors.
Whoever remains in Zion and whoever is left in Jerusalem will be called holy-- all in Jerusalem who are destined to live--
Though a tenth will remain in the land, it will be burned again. Like the terebinth or the oak, which leaves a stump when felled, the holy seed is the stump.
Perhaps the LORD your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master, the king of Assyria, sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke [him for] the words that the LORD your God has heard. Therefore offer a prayer for the surviving remnant.'"
The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward.
For a remnant will go out from Jerusalem, and survivors from Mount Zion. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this.'
should we break Your commandments again and intermarry with the peoples who commit these detestable practices? Wouldn't You become [so] angry with us that You would destroy us, leaving no survivors?
But Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: Though the number of Israel's sons is like the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved;
for the Lord will execute His sentence completely and decisively on the earth.
And just as Isaiah predicted: If the Lord of Hosts had not left us a seed, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have been made like Gomorrah.
So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. March up and save me from the power of the king of Aram and of the king of Israel, who are rising up against me."
Then Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came against Ahaz; he oppressed him and did not give him support.
When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his wound, Ephraim went to Assyria and sent [a delegation] to the great king. But he cannot cure you or heal your wound.
Assyria will not save us, we will not ride on horses, and we will no longer proclaim: Our gods! to the work of our hands. For the fatherless receives compassion in You."
but shall stay
On that day people will look to their Maker and will turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
They will not look to the altars they made with their hands or to the Asherahs and incense altars they made with their fingers.
You will keep in perfect peace the mind [that is] dependent [on You], for it is trusting in You.
Trust in the LORD forever, because in Yah, the LORD, is an everlasting rock!
"Listen to this, house of Jacob-- those who are called by the name Israel and have descended from Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD and declare the God of Israel, [but] not in truth or righteousness.
For they are named after the Holy City, and lean on the God of Israel; His name is Yahweh of Hosts.
Who among you fears the LORD, listening to the voice of His servant? Who [among you] walks in darkness, and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD; let him lean on his God.
