Woe to the rebellious children! [This is] the LORD's declaration. They carry out a plan, but not Mine, They make an alliance, but against My will, piling sin on top of sin.
They set out to go down to Egypt without asking My advice, in order to seek shelter under Pharaoh's protection and take refuge in Egypt's shadow.
But Pharaoh's protection will become your shame, and refuge in Egypt's shadow your disgrace.
I am watching over them for disaster and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or famine until they are finished off.
All who resolve to go to Egypt to live there for a while will die by the sword, famine, and plague. They will have no survivor or escapee from the disaster I will bring on them.'
"Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?
Do you really think-- anyone of you who judges those who do such things yet do the same-- that you will escape God's judgment?
how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was first spoken by the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.
I will hurl you and the mother who gave birth to you into another land, where neither of you were born, and there you will both die.
They will never return to the land they long to return to."
Now therefore, know for certain that by the sword, famine, and plague you will die in the place where you desired to go to live for a while."
Those who escape the sword will return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah only few in number, and the whole remnant of Judah, the ones going to the land of Egypt to live there for a while, will know whose word stands, Mine or theirs!
On that day the branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of Israel's survivors.
On that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no longer depend on the one who struck them, but they will faithfully depend on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.
But Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: Though the number of Israel's sons is like the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved;
In the same way, then, there is also at the present time a remnant chosen by grace.
Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.
