"This is John the Baptist!" he told his servants. "He has been raised from the dead, and that's why supernatural powers are at work in him."
They answered Him, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, one of the prophets."
Look, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome Day of the LORD comes.
But others said, "He's Elijah." Still others said, "He's a prophet-- like one of the prophets."
While He was praying in private and His disciples were with Him, He asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"
They answered, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, that one of the ancient prophets has come back."
And there was a lot of discussion about Him among the crowds. Some were saying, "He's a good man." Others were saying, "No, on the contrary, He's deceiving the people."
When some from the crowd heard these words, they said, "This really is the Prophet!"
Others said, "This is the Messiah!" But some said, "Surely the Messiah doesn't come from Galilee, does He?
Again they asked the blind man, "What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?" "He's a prophet," he said.
