So he took Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

If You, then, will worship me, all will be Yours."

Then I'll say to myself, "You have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink, and enjoy yourself."'

"That's how it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God."

'Father Abraham!' he called out, 'Have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame!'

" 'Son,' Abraham said, 'remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

They trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches.

since the price of redeeming him is too costly, one should forever stop trying--

What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?

For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his life?

And if your hand causes your downfall, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell-- the unquenchable fire,

And if your foot causes your downfall, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell-- [[the unquenchable fire,

And if your eye causes your downfall, gouge it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,

Now this man acquired a field with his unrighteous wages; and falling headfirst, he burst open in the middle, and all his insides spilled out.

to take the place in this apostolic service that Judas left to go to his own place."

By abandoning the straight path, they have gone astray and have followed the path of Balaam, the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

These people are springs without water, mists driven by a whirlwind. The gloom of darkness has been reserved for them.

As much as she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, give her that much torment and grief. Because she says in her heart, 'I sit as queen; I am not a widow, and I will never see grief,'

therefore her plagues will come in one day-- death, and grief, and famine. She will be burned up with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is mighty.

and when it was full, they dragged it ashore, sat down, and gathered the good [fish] into containers, but threw out the worthless ones.

and throw them into the blazing furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
