So they gave him 70 pieces of silver from the temple of Baal-berith. Abimelech hired worthless and reckless men with this money, and they followed him.

I am against those who prophesy false dreams"-- the LORD's declaration-- "telling them and leading My people astray with their falsehoods and their boasting. It was not I who sent or commanded them, and they are of no benefit at all to these people"-- [this is] the LORD's declaration.

Her prophets are reckless-- treacherous men. Her priests profane the sanctuary; they do violence to instruction.

For our boast is this: the testimony of our conscience that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with God-given sincerity and purity, not by fleshly wisdom but by God's grace.

I beg you that when I am present I will not need to be bold with the confidence by which I plan to challenge certain people who think we are walking in a fleshly way.

For although we are walking in the flesh, we do not wage war in a fleshly way,

You judge by human standards. I judge no one.

to reveal His Son in me, so that I could preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with anyone.

I went up because of a revelation and presented to them the gospel I preach among the Gentiles-- but privately to those recognized [as leaders]-- so that I might not be running, or have run, in vain.

So we wanted to come to you-- even I, Paul, time and again-- but Satan hindered us.

As God is faithful, our message to you is not "Yes and no."

For every one of God's promises is "Yes" in Him. Therefore the "Amen" is also through Him for God's glory through us.

But let your word 'yes' be 'yes,' and your 'no' be 'no.' Anything more than this is from the evil one.

Now above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. Your "yes" must be "yes," and your "no" must be "no," so that you won't fall under judgment.
