The Spirit of the LORD was on him, and he judged Israel. Othniel went out to battle, and the LORD handed over Cushan-rishathaim king of Aram to him, so that Othniel overpowered him.
The Spirit of the LORD enveloped Gideon, and he blew the ram's horn and the Abiezrites rallied behind him.
Then the Spirit of the LORD began to direct him in the Camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
Then the LORD descended in the cloud and spoke to him. He took some of the Spirit that was on Moses and placed [the Spirit] on the 70 elders. As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they never did it again.
When Saul and his attendant arrived at Gibeah, a group of prophets met him. Then the Spirit of God took control of him, and he prophesied along with them.
So Samuel took the horn of oil, anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD took control of David from that day forward. Then Samuel set out and went to Ramah.
Now the Spirit of the LORD had left Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD began to torment him,
so Saul's servants said to him, "You see that an evil spirit from God is tormenting you.
Then the Spirit took control of Amasai, chief of the Thirty, [and he said]: [We are] yours, David, [we are] with you, son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to him who helps you, for your God helps you. So David received them and made them leaders of his troops.
The Ammonites were called together, and they camped in Gilead. So the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.
