That is not [my] intention. There is a man named Sheba son of Bichri, from the hill country of Ephraim, who has rebelled against King David. Deliver this one man, and I will withdraw from the city." The woman replied to Joab, "All right. His head will be thrown over the wall to you."

The woman went to all the people with her wise counsel, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. So he blew the ram's horn, and they dispersed from the city, each to his own tent. Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.

While they were enjoying themselves, all of a sudden, perverted men of the city surrounded the house and beat on the door. They said to the old man who was the owner of the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him!"

that wicked men have sprung up among you, led the inhabitants of their city astray, and said, 'Let us go and worship other gods,' which you have not known,

but all the worthless men among those who had gone with David retorted, "Because they didn't go with us, we will not give any of the plunder we recovered to them except for each man's wife and children. They may take them and go."

Now a wicked man, a Benjaminite named Sheba son of Bichri, happened to be there. He blew the ram's horn and shouted: We have no portion in David, no inheritance in Jesse's son. Each man to his tent, Israel!

But all the wicked are like thorns raked aside; they can never be picked up by hand.

The two wicked men came in and sat opposite him. Then the wicked men testified against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, "Naboth has cursed God and king!" So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.

Then worthless and wicked men gathered around him to resist Rehoboam son of Solomon when Rehoboam was young, inexperienced, and unable to assert himself against them.

The witnesses' hands are to be the first in putting him to death, and after that, the hands of all the people. You must purge the evil from you.

The person who acts arrogantly, refusing to listen either to the priest who stands there serving the LORD your God or to the judge, must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

you must do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must purge the evil from you.

Then all the men of his city will stone him to death. You must purge the evil from you, and all Israel will hear and be afraid.

they will bring the woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city will stone her to death. For she has committed an outrage in Israel by being promiscuous in her father's house. You must purge the evil from you.

you must take the two of them out to the gate of that city and stone them to death-- the young woman because she did not cry out in the city and the man because he has violated his neighbor's fianc�e. You must purge the evil from you.

"If a man is discovered kidnapping one of his Israelite brothers, whether he treats him as a slave or sells him, the kidnapper must die. You must purge the evil from you.

Remove sorrow from your heart, and put away pain from your flesh, because youth and the prime of life are fleeting.

If a man sins against another man, God can intercede for him, but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?" But they would not listen to their father, since the LORD intended to kill them.

While he was still speaking to him, the king asked, "Have we made you the king's counselor? Stop, why should you lose your life?" So the prophet stopped, but he said, "I know that God intends to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my advice."

But Amaziah would not listen, for this [turn of events] was from God in order to hand them over to [their enemies] because they went after the gods of Edom.

One who becomes stiff-necked, after many reprimands will be broken suddenly-- and without a remedy.

They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their guilt; He will punish their sins.

Israel, you have sinned since the days of Gibeah; they have taken their stand there. Will not war against the unjust overtake them in Gibeah?

Although they know full well God's just sentence-- that those who practice such things deserve to die-- they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them.

Then I heard another voice from heaven: Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins, or receive any of her plagues.

For her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.
