Saul and the troops spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, cattle, and fatlings, as well as the young rams and the best of everything else. They were not willing to destroy them, but they did destroy all the worthless and unwanted things.

The troops took sheep and cattle from the plunder-- the best of what was set apart for destruction-- to sacrifice to the LORD your God at Gilgal."

Then the man replied, "The woman You gave to be with me-- she gave me [some fruit] from the tree, and I ate."

So the LORD God asked the woman, "What is this you have done?" And the woman said, "It was the serpent. He deceived me, and I ate."

"Don't be enraged, my lord," Aaron replied. "You yourself know that the people are [intent] on evil.

They said to me, 'Make us a god who will go before us because this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt-- we don't know what has happened to him!'

Have I covered my transgressions as others do by hiding my guilt in my heart,

The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.

He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search carefully for the child. When you find Him, report back to me so that I too can go and worship Him."

But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
