We find many names for God in the Bible. Jesus urged us to think of God as our loving father. We all need love to develop and be healthy. But God’s love is not the soupy, sentimental kind of love. It’s tough love.

Peter’s denial of Jesus is one particularly heartbreaking moment featured in all four of the Gospels. As readers, we see Jesus warn Peter that this moment is coming; we watch the denial happen and witness Peter’s immediate heartbreak at realizing what he’d done. Thankfully, we also get a front-row seat to his restoration. Peter is rescued from what he has done, assuring us Easter gives us the same opportunity.
